An authentic monk’s robe, found and repurposed, is transformed into a quiet image.
The upper part - about 50 × 50 cm - is carefully pressed, suspended, and framed on the wall, glowing with the still dignity of the temple.
Below, the fabric falls freely to the ground - wrinkled, imperfect, heavy with time.
This contrast between the framed order and the fallen cloth speaks about the life of things after their purpose fades. What once served as a robe of devotion now becomes a fragment of reflection — half sacred, half abandoned. It reminds us that spirituality, like fabric, wears out, folds, and continues to exist in new forms.
Using real second-hand robes - with their marks, stains, and irregularities - I want to let the material tell its own story.
Each thread carries the memory of a life lived in humility and repetition - a visual echo of Mai Mii Arai (ไม่มีอะไร) - There is nothing.
